Barbora Krejcikova: "it's a dream come true"

The 2021 edition of the women's singles at the Roland Garros was an event full of sensational surprises, incredible situations and which saw the favorites leave the stage. To triumph was the Czech tennis player Barbora Krejcikova who at the press conference told the basics of this incredible dream come true and she dedicated the victory to the Czech champion who died in 2017 Jana Novotna.

The winner of Roland Garros 2021 made interesting statements at the conference, here are her words: "I am extremely happy, for me it is a dream come true.
It's hard to talk now and make sense of all these emotions, I'm happy I handled all the difficult situations like I did.

Before the match I talked to my psychologist, we talked a lot and during the match I didn't have the panic that accompanied me to other races, all this made me very happy. I won in doubles and mixed but I always thought it would be great to win in all three categories at Roland Garros, I've always dreamed of it.

What will change now? I don't want to change anything, I want to work hard and enjoy tennis. I think a lot of things will change around me, but I'll still be that girl from a small town where I used to play tennis against a wall.

Jana Novotna? I have never tried to imitate it, I worked hard on many aspects and I used the slice a lot because it is a difficult shot to counter. I like to be approached however, Jana is a special person to me, I remember when I was 18 and I approached the world of professionals, I went to her house to ask her for advice and she was very kind to me.

She taught me so many things and I am happy now, I feel that she too would be happy to see me win, she wanted to see me win and everyone knows what this means to me. The psychologist? I'm talking about the challenge with Stephens, it was really difficult, I had never seen myself in such a situation and I felt panicked.

I wanted to win at all costs but I knew I didn't have to put too much pressure on myself otherwise I wouldn't have won. Before the final she just told me to enjoy it and see everything as a party."
