Toni Nadal: "When Roger Federer plays you can expect anything"

Roger Federer will come back to the Wimbledon lawns on 29 June 2021 for his much awaited first round match. After two years of absence from the tournament and with the tennis player now on the threshold of forty it is difficult to consider Roger among the favorites of the tournament, but the fans are hoping for a last fairy tale by the Swiss, committed in the first round against the insidious Frenchman Adrien Mannarino.

Roger Federer is on the opposite side of the draw from defending champion and world number one Novak Djokovic, so the remake of the 2019 final could only happen again in the final. At the same time the Swiss could face the French Richard Gasquet in the second round and eventually in the third round he would have a very insidious challenge against the Queen's finalist Cameron Norrie.

This season Roger has appeared in trouble in several tournaments, not least the Halle tournament where, despite the grass, he fell against the young Canadian tennis player Felix Auger Aliassime.

One person who knows Roger Federer very well is certainly Toni Nadal, uncle and former coach of Roger's greatest rival, Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal.

Currently Toni Nadal is the coach of Felix Auger Aliassime, the very one who gave the last big disappointment to the Swiss champion. On the sidelines of the upcoming London Grand Slam, the Spanish coach spoke thus about the former world number one and current Top Ten.

He said: "With Roger Federer you can expect anything. I saw him play in Halle with Felix and it was the third set that cost him dearly. The confidence that he could gain race after race is important and I am very curious about this situation."

Roger Federer in Halle won his first match against Ivashka but fell in the next round and now not even the most passionate fans of the Swiss champion know what to expect during Wimbledon. We have to recall that Roger also got the 4th round of the French Open 2021, while he didntt play the Australian Open, forst annual Slam.
