Matteo Berrettini, current number seven in the world is currently in the United States to face Indian Wells, the first Masters 1000 of the season. After the various workouts that he has done in the US, he has decided to take a break and to allow himself a free evening, dedicating himself to one of his greatest passions: NBA.
While the Italian national team celebrated their transition to the Davis Cup Finals, Matteo Berrettini enjoyed the NBA spectacle, watching the match between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors. With the occasion of the match, the Roman tennis player was able to meet one of his sporting idols, LeBron James.
Wake me up: this is what Berrettini wrote in one of his Instagram stories about him, in which he portrays the Lakers basketball player a few meters from him. As reported by the Gazzetta dello Sport, Matteo Berrettini had tried to make a comparison between the tennis number one and the basketball giants.
For Berrettini, LeBron James recalls Rafael Nadal for physicality and because they both exploded very young; Michael Jordan is Roger Federer, while Novak Djokovic has been compared to Kobe Bryant: for how he stays cold in difficult times, said the number six in the world.
Also present are Kyrgios and Tiafoe
Not only Matteo Berrettini was present at the game between Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors, but also two other tennis players on the circuit: Nick Kyrgios and Frances Tiafoe.
Even the doubles winner of the Australian Open, like Berrettini, has a passion for basketball, to the point of declaring that he prefers it to the sport he practices at a professional level. Which is why he did not miss the opportunity to document his presence at the match with a post on social media, crowning LeBron James as the king.
Both tennis players, like Berrettini, are on US territory to face the Indian Wells tournament.
We recall Berrettini, finalist of 2021 Wimbledon edition, will be one of the main stars and big favorite for the 2022 grass-swing. Tiafoe is on the Masters 1000 entry list, while Kyrgios, by virtue of her success at the Australian Open, was awarded a wild card.
