Richard Williams criticizes Will Smith for Academy Awards 2022 issue

During the 94th Academy Awards Night, Will Smith won the Best Lead Actor award for the film King Richard. The American actor masterfully portrayed Richard Williams, father of the two champions Serena and Venus. Will Smith, before receiving the prestigious award, did not like a cheesy joke uttered by comedian Chris Rock towards his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

Smith failed to keep control and hit Chris Rock in the face in the world live after reaching the stage. The Academy, via Twitter, condemned Will Smith's act and specified that: "We do not condone violence in any form."

The Hollywood star, in the last few hours, has publicly apologized through his Instagram account: "Violence in all its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night's Oscars was unacceptable and unforgivable.

Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada's medical condition was too much to bear and I reacted emotionally. I'd like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I have exaggerated and wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be.

There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness. I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone who watches around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams family and my King Richard family.

I deeply regret that my behavior has tainted what has been an otherwise wonderful journey for all of us. They are a work in progress." In a short interview with NBC News, Richard Williams expressed his opinion on the story: "We do not know all the details of what happened.

But we do not condone any act of violence against another person, unless both in self-defense." Serena Williams also commented on what happened. And speaking of the American tennis star, there are still no precise dates for her return on the WTA Tour.
