Tennis - You would think that winning Wimbledon and putting the British out of their misery after waiting for 77 years for a local champion at the greatest tennis tournament in the world may be sufficient to earn some kudos from the British public.
But not enough when it comes to knighthood. After Andy Murray won Wimbledon last week, there have been several calls to get him knighted with event British Prime Minister David Cameron saying he would support such a move. But according to a poll, most Brits are not in favour of knighting Murray.
According to the Mirror, a poll showed that 55 percent of respondents believe that the Scot does not deserve a knighthood and only one in four people believed that the player should get the title, even though his victory sparked a wave of celebrations across the UK..
