Maria Sharapova pulls out of Stanford- View: 3091 by Vishal Gajaria
26-year-old Maria Sharapova has officially withdrawn from the next week's Women's Tennis Association (WTA) event in Stanford. The Russian injured her hip at the 2013 Wimbledon Championships, where she suffered a stunning second-round defeat, from the hands of Michelle Larcher de Brito.
However, the 4-time Grand Slam champion is expected to play the Rogers Cup in Toronto. In absence of both Sharapova and defending champion Serena Williams (who will play in Bastad), Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska has got the top billing for the tournament.
