American tennis players Madison Keys and Bjorn Fratangelo have announced their engagement. Keys, 28, and 29-year-old Fratangelo have been together for six years. This week, the tennis duo took to Instagram to announce their engagement.
"Forever," Keys and Fratangelo captioned her Instagram post.
In the comment section, several fellow tennis pros reacted.
Sloane Stephens, the 2017 US Open champion, sounded extremely happy about the Keys and Fratangelo engagement news. "Yesssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are getting married!!!!!!!!!!!” Stephens wrote in the comment section.
Keys, Fratangelo twice teamed up for a mixed doubles event
At the 2021 US Open, Keys and Fratangelo made their debut as a mixed doubles team. In their first-ever mixed doubles match as a duo, Keys and Fratangelo were beaten by Ellen Perez and Marcelo Demoliner in the US Open first round.
But for Keys and Fratangelo, it was a nice memory and something they would never forget. “He finally wore me down. I was always just saying I was going to be so nervous and I was going to have to try so hard, but he finally said, ‘We’ll just have some fun.’ I’m very happy that we did it.
Of all the memories you have of all the matches, it’s obviously the people you are with who make those moments. To be able to have a moment on court together I think is definitely something that is going to stick in my mind," Keys told the ATP website in 2021.
Last year, Keys and Fratangelo competed again in the US Open mixed doubles event. In their second appearance as a mixed doubles team, Keys and Fratangelo clinched their first win - the American duo defeated Jaeda Daniel and Richard Ciamarra in the US Open first round.
After clinching their first mixed doubles win, Keys and Fratangelo couldn't upset experienced doubles players Shuai Zhang and Mate Pavic in their next match. It remains to be seen if Keys and Fratangelo will again play mixed doubles at this year's US Open.
