Brook Shield on Andre Agassi: "I married a very controlling person"

Brooke Shields, first wife of Andre Agassi, shared new details about the relationship she had with the US tennis player. Brook and Andre began dating in 1993, before getting married in 1997. Their marriage only lasted two years, with the couple divorcing in 1999.

Shields opened up about her marriage in a recent WTF podcast interview with Marc Maron.

She revealed: "My first husband, you know, it's like people say marry your father or whatever.

I married a very controlling person. I married an industry. I married a conglomerate, you know. I could disappear into it , and I loved it. And I needed it. Andre and I laughed a lot too, which was great." The film that made her famous was the 1980 Blue Lagoon, starring Christopher Atkins on a desert island, with her still a teenager (Shields later testified before the US Court of Investigation that a stunt double was used in these scenes).

The 1981 film Endless Love was also released. Then she leave Hollywood to complete her universitary studies. At 16, she was among the best-known faces in the world, thanks to her dual career as a provocatively glamorous model and controversial young actress.

Time magazine, February 9, 1981, published Brooke's daily earnings: $10,000. In 1983 she appeared on the September cover of Paris Vogue, in October and November in American Vogue and in December in the Italian edition. She was the TV testimonial for Calvin Klein jeans.

From 1981 to 1984 she was awarded the People's Choice Award for Best Actress. On April 19, 1997, she married tennis player Andre Agassi in Pebble Beach, California, from whom she divorced on April 9, 1999 (the marriage was later annulled).

She has been married to television producer Chris Henchy since April 4, 2001. After several attempts at artificial insemination, she had two children.
