The Masters 1000 in Madrid has officially ended, a tournament that saw world number 2 Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka win respectively in the men's and women's singles. Great moment of form for the two who are ever closer to the top of the ranking and numbers, to say the least, exceptional.

A tournament full of absences but full of controversies with the director of the Mutua Madrid Open Feliciano Lopez grappling with various complicated situations to evaluate. Without a doubt, one of the most present controversies in the circuit is that relating to gender differences.

There have been complaints about Prize Money differences in the past, but this week we experienced a real Cake-Gate. Many have expressed their disappointment at the differences in the birthday celebrations of Alcaraz and Sabalenka: the former was celebrated on the court with a gigantic cake while the latter was celebrated in the locker room with a small cake and many tennis players have criticized this situation and clear difference.

Among these one of the most active was the former world number one Victoria Azarenka, winner of the doubles tournament, together with the Brazilian Haddad Maia. Just these tennis players have been the protagonists of a case in Madrid in the last few hours.

Azarenka explodes on social media

After winning the doubles tournament, the winners of Madrid were not interviewed, as were the defeated finalists, the American Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff. The real reason is not known, but it appeared very strange since it was a very important 1000.

Some have snidely assumed that this situation relates to the recent Cake-Gate controversy, but Azarenka doesn't fit. Victoria argued on social media and after her success she left a very harsh tweet against the organizers of the tournament: "It's difficult to explain to Leo (her son of hers) that the mother cannot speak and she cannot greet him in the tournament ceremony.

" Many supported Victoria and criticized the choice of the organizers with Feliciano Lopez at the center of the controversy. We recall Alcaraz celebrated its 20th birthday with a splendid victory against Borna Coric. The success against the Croatian will allow the Spaniard to play for the second consecutive year in the final of the Masters 1000 in Madrid.

The organizers of the Madrid tournament, led by Feliciano Lopez, have organized a special surprise in Alcaraz after the match. A two-tier cake was in fact taken directly to the Manolo Santana Stadium. Alcaraz was thus able to blow out the candles in the home tournament and in the company of his family.
