Naomi Osaka announces it's a girl!

Naomi Osaka has just announced that she is set to deliver a baby girl. Osaka, 25, announced in January that she was pregnant with her first child. But Osaka didn't want to reveal the baby's gender, until now. "A little princess is on the way," read a sign at Osaka's baby gender-reveal party.

In early April, Osaka spoke with a Japanese journalist. During the conversation, Osaka revealed that her baby was due in June or July.

"The baby is due in June or July, so I have August, September, October, November and December. I have almost six months," Osaka said a few months ago.

Osaka aims a major comeback

Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam champion, said during the same conversation that she would return as "a better player." "I'm definitely going to perform well and be a better player than I have been last year.

For me, my results just made me want to try harder and be the best that I can be. I’ll be competing in Australia next year," Osaka said. Osaka is aiming a major comeback but some are throwing doubts on whether the Japanese can make a successful return.

Three weeks ago, Osaka took to Twitter to address the doubters. "Btw to the people that are suddenly concerned about my career. There are plenty of male athletes with kids that are significantly less accomplished, you might wanna worry about them instead.

Thanks for the concern, might wanna redirect it to someone that needs it though. Not trying to make this a male and female thing but let’s be fr," Osaka tweeted in May. During a conversation with a Japanese journalist, Osaka said she was hoping to "win at least eight more Grand Slams" before she retires. Osaka is expected to return to action at the start of the 2024 season in Australia.
