Man accused of stealing Nick Kyrgios car at gunpoint pleads not guilty to all charges

The alleged carjacker of Nick Kyrgios' green Tesla has pleaded not guilty over the incident, per Nine News. The man, who is 32 and not being named for legal reasons, was hit with five charges and appeared in ACT Magistrates Court.

According to Nine News, the man accused of stealing Kyrgios' car pleaded not guilty to "aggravated robbery, driving a vehicle without consent, failing to stop for police, resisting a public official and driving while suspended." On May 1st, a carjacker came to the Kyrgios parents' home and demanded mother Norlaila give him the keys to the Australian tennis star's green Tesla.

Norlaila, who was held at gunpoint, was also demanded to show the carjacker how to drive the car. When Norlaila alerted her son, Kyrgios used his Tesla app to track down and slow the car. Around half an hour later, the carjacker was caught by the police.

Kyrgios sustained an injury during the incident

Kyrgios was aiming to compete at the French Open but a foot injury sustained during the robbery of his car forced him to skip the tournament. "During the incident on May 1, they had the armed robbery at the house.

With all the stuff that was going on Nick lacerated the side of his left foot. We don't know how. Basically, it's just set him back about two-and-a-half weeks in terms of his loading schedule to get back on court for what we thought was going to be the Grand Slam," Kyrgios' manager' Daniel Horsfall told Reuters in mid-May.

Kyrgios' surgically operated knee was doing well but the unfortunate foot injury caused the Australian to miss the French Open. "He couldn’t slide, couldn’t get on court because every time he put a shoe on it moved and it would reopen.

His knee, as far as we’re concerned, is actually in fantastic shape, the surgery went well. His fitness is at a fantastic level. It was just when we got to the last point of that rehab, the on-court loading, this freak accident happened," Horsfall explained.
