Martina Navratilova has harshly attacked the president of the Spanish Soccer Federation Luis Rubiales. During the awards ceremony for the Spain women soccer team, winners of the 2023 FIFA World Cup against England, the man gave a non-consensual kiss to the Spanish soccer player Jenni Hermoso.

Rubiales has refused to resign as head of the Spanish soccer federation and the organization has refused to fire him. UEFA may consider expelling Spain from all competitions, according to reports from several Spanish media and insiders.

Rubiales denied that the kiss was non-consensual, while Hermoso stressed in an interview that the kiss was indeed non-consensual. Martina Navratilova spoke out about the case, writing on X: "Fire is a.. already!"

What happened: the earthquake which hit the Spanish soccer

As reported by, FIFA has suspended Spanish soccer federation president Luis Rubiales for 90 days after he non-consensual kiss given to Spanish soccer player Jenni Hermoso, immediately after Spain's triumph in the FIFA Women's Soccer World Cup.

Rubiales has been pending the disciplinary proceedings opened against him, while, during an extraordinary meeting, he refused to resign despite pressure from the Spanish government, soccer associations and fans. In a note from FIFA, we can read: "President of the FIFA Disciplinary Commission, Jorge Ivan Palacio, making use of the powers granted by Article 51 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

Palacio, in order to preserve the rights of the player of the Spanish international Jennifer Hermoso and the regularity of the proceedings before the Commission, has issued two additional directives ordering Rubiales and the Spanish Soccer Federation and its representatives to refrain from contacting Hermoso.

Specifying that the Commission will not provide further information on the disciplinary proceedings until a final decision has been taken, FIFA reaffirms its absolute commitment to respecting the integrity of all persons and condemns any contrary behavior with the utmost vigor."
