Eugenie Bouchard switches to another pro sport, tennis career over?

2014 Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard is set to join the professional pickleball tour in 2024, the association announced. Bouchard, a former world No 5, will be playing pickleball on the pro level starting in 2024. Although it's not clear if this will have an impact on 29-year-old Bouchard's pro tennis career, this move points toward the Canadian likely retiring from pro tennis.

Bouchard joins Jack Sock

Just before the start of this year's US Open, former world No 8 Sock announced he would be retiring from pro tennis after the final Grand Slam of the season.

After his retirement announcement, the PPA Tour announced they signed Sock. "To the 8-year-old boy who immediately fell in love with the sport of tennis, I hope I made you proud. It's been 14 years of memories I will never forget.

From winning four Grand Slams, Olympic Gold and Bronze, top 10 rankings in singles and doubles and competing on the Davis Cup and Laver Cup teams, it's been beyond what I could've ever dreamed. Without the help of so many people, none of that could've ever happened.

To my wife, Laura, you have been there in some very tough times and also some very amazing times. You have always supported me and helped me to be the best 1 possibly could. We now have a little one on the way and I'm so incredibly excited for the next chapter as a family and being parents," Sock said in his announcement.

After Sock, another former top-10 tennis player is joining pickleball. For pickleball, it's certainly a major success to be having Bouchard and Sock on their tour.
