Gael Monfils posts touching birthday message to wife Elina Svitolina

Gael Monfils posted a touching birthday message to his wife Elina Svitolina, calling her his "life" and saying "no words can express my feelings for you." On Tuesday, Ukrainian tennis star Svitolina turned 29 years old. Monfils, who has been married to Svitolina since 2021 July, certainly also sees September 12th as a very important day in his life.

"Happy birthday @elisvitolina. 'No words can express my feelings for you. You are my love, my sunshine, my life!'" Monfils wrote on Instagram.

Monfils and Svitolina recently celebrated their second anniversary

In 2021 July, Monfils and Svitolina tied the knot.

This summer, Monfils and Svitolina celebrated the second anniversary of their wedding. Last October, Monfils and Svitolina became parents for the first time when their daughter Skai was born. Since then, Monfils and Svitolina have been doing their best to navigate between parenting and their tennis careers.

After being out for 13 months, Svitolina returned to action in April. Svitolina's post-pregnancy comeback has been an impressive one so far as the Ukrainian reached the Wimbledon semifinal this summer. Reflecting on Svitolina's post-pregnancy success, Monfils said one of his biggest joys in this life now is seeing his wifr happy.

“We had each other. It’s great to see her doing so good. So, I think both of us, we try to pull the best out of us. The downside is to see her suffering in the practice, in the fitness room; how much discipline and work she puts in, you know, to come back.

It’s just like, for me, another joy to see my wife compete and be happy on the court – that’s the first for a husband -- to see your wife happy. She’s happy outside of the court, but enjoying herself on the court, putting the work, the discipline and then have the results, is amazing,” Monfils said on Tennis Channel last month.
