The young American tennis player Coco Gauff is always very attentive to the social problems our society is facing, and she said she was heartbroken by the loss of innocent lives due to the war between Israel and Palestine.

The US Open winner is young, but already very wise. She has demonstrated great sensitivity on important and significant issues, taking decisive and clear positions, with her own words. Conflicts, wars, integration and social battles: Coco is a champion and an icon and her words make us think.

Coco addressed the situation, expressing all her sadness and horror in a long social post, in an Instagram story:

"I am heartbroken by the tragic loss of innocent lives and firmly denounce any acts of terrorism. My heart goes out to all of the innocent Israeli and Palestinian lives involved. The heinous nature of these actions is incomprehensible, and my family's hearts go out to the families of those who have lost loved ones, those who have been injured, and those who are still missing. I hold onto hope for peace in the region and stand firm on fighting all forms of hatred. My family and I will continue to pray for all of the families in mourning."

The War between Israel and Palestine

The conflict between Israel and Palestine flared up again on Saturday 7 October, when an Islamic fundamentalist organization Hamas attacked Israel, in a geographical area near the Gaza Strip.

Several Israelis were taken hostage in the Gaza Strip, while in the subsequent clashes at least 1200 Israelis died, while only over 1000 Palestinians died, with hundreds of thousands of displaced people in the Gaza Strip.

The front is also moving between the Israel-Lebanon border, with the conflict potentially widening and facing military escalation, as suggested by the UN and US President Joe Biden. The situation for now does not foresee any truces, with Israel moving military forces by land, air and sea, in order to annihilate the Palestinian fundamentalist forces of Hamas present in the Gaza strip. In what is expected to be one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.
