Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka is seemingly ramping up the intensity in her practices as she is working hard to be in great shape when the time comes for the start of the 2024 season. Osaka, 26, didn't play at all in 2023 after previously announcing pregnancy in January.

After giving birth in July, former world No 1 Osaka focused on preparing for her comeback. Osaka's first tournament back has yet to be confirmed but it is known that the Japanese is targeting to play again at the start of the 2024 season.

"One step at a time," Osaka captioned her post.

Osaka to play more than she used to

After going public about her battle with depression and anxiety during the 2021 French Open, Osaka started playing fewer tournaments.

As a result, Osaka appeared in just three tournaments in the remainder of the 2021 season. Last year, Osaka appeared in just 11 tournaments. "It's definitely way more tournaments than I used to play. So I think some people will be happy with that.

I think it's because I realized that I don't know how the beginning of the year is going to go for me. I don't know the level of play and I think I have to ease into it. So at the very least, I'll set myself up for a very good end of the year," Osaka told ESPN during this year's US Open.

In January, Osaka announced she was out of the Australian Open and the entire 2023 season. For the first time in her career, Osaka didn't play a single tournament during a season. "I definitely only know this world, the tennis world.

Being away from that for a long time, it was new for me. Just the new situation and not being able to train the way I wanted to, it made me feel like I would just stay at home," Osaka said.
