Emma Raducanu showered her fans with love after landing at No 3 in the top-10 most searched female athletes in the past year. This week, a published list revealed that Raducanu was the third-most with 9.6 million searches in the past year.
The first on the list is Iga Swiatek, whose name was searched 15.6 million while Coco Gauff landed in second place with 10.1 million searches. Raducanu, who appeared in just five tournaments before undergoing three surgeries in May, maybe hasn't played much this year but there is still a great level of interest in the 20-year-old Briton.
"Even in her year 'break' to injuries @emmaraducanu is top-3 in searched. Phenomenon," a fan captioned its Instagram Story. Raducanu responded: "(heart emoji) a lot of love."
Raducanu set to play again in 2024
After missing the entire second part of the 2023 season, Raducanu is aiming to make her long-awaited comeback at the start of the 2024 season.
"I will be coming back with a lower ranking but I'm looking forward to starting again, resetting. I still have new goals, new things I want to achieve but I've still got 15 years in my career so there is no rush. Throughout my career I've had setbacks.
I take most of my inspiration from books, I read a lot, I read Chinese history about the different dynasties," Raducanu told BBC Radio 4's Today programme last week. By 20, Raducanu managed to accomplish her two biggest goals - to win a Grand Slam and compete at Wimbledon.
‟The dreams that kept me going in the past were to win Grand Slams and to play at Wimbledon. Now, to have achieved that, I’m setting myself new goals. It’s about continuous improvement and trying to learn new things.
Personally, I’m very focused on the improvements I can make in my tennis, and that motivates me a lot,” Raducanu told Porsche-Tennis. Raducanu hasn't yet officially confirmed where her comeback in 2024 will start.
