Iga Swiatek has achieved yet another very notable feat as the Pole is the first player to have 20 bagel sets in consecutive seasons since Steffi Graf and Monica Seles in 1991 and 1992, via OptaAce. On Monday, Swiatek's WTA Finals campaign in Cancun started with a 7-6 (3) 6-0 win over reigning Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova.
For Swiatek, it was her 21st set won with a 6-0 scoreline in 2023. During the 2022 season, Swiatek had 22 bagel sets. This year, Swiatek continued handing out bagels to rivals and 21 sets with a 6-0 scoreline show the best how the Pole can be ruthless when she is feeling her game.

Swiatek claims her 21st bagel set of the year against Vondrousova
Swiatek struggled a bit at the start of the match as Vondrousova claimed an early break to open a 2-0 lead.
Swiatek quickly responded by breaking back Vondrousova and tying the first set to two games apiece. After blowing an early break, Vondrousova earned back-to-back breaks in the fifth and seventh games to open a 5-2 lead. Down by two breaks, Swiatek refused to quit as the Pole managed to get both breaks back and force a tie-break.
In the first-set tie-break, Vondrousova had a 2-0 lead before Swiatek won seven of the next eight points to seal the first set. After creating a big comeback in the first set, Swiatek absolutely dominated the second set and won it without a game lost.
“Honestly, even in the first part of the match I wasn’t feeling like I was playing bad. I just felt like I was making mistakes on the last shots within the rally. I felt that there was, for sure, room for improvement, but I didn’t need to change a lot.
So I just wanted to be more precise and more solid … not play risky," Swiatek said after beating Vondrousova.
