Thanasi Kokkinakis jokes Nick Kyrgios "did him dirty" by revealing that he was going out and partying during their triumphant 2022 Australian Open doubles run. Kokkinakis and Kyrgios, who have been great friends since their childhood, teamed up for the doubles event at the 2022 Australian Open as the tournament organizers handed them a main draw doubles wildcard.

At first, Kokkinakis and Kyrgios entered the doubles tournament because they wanted to have some fun in front of their home fans. But it ended up far more than just a fun experience as Kokkinakis and Kyrgios won their first Grand Slam title after beating Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell 7-5 6-4.

This week, Kyrgios is serving as an analyst for Tennis Channel during the ATP Finals. "He (Kokkinakis) was having a good time but I was getting up at 7 am and doing chip returns in doubles. I'm like 'what am I doing here?' I'm the first person at Melbourne Park practicing and he was just rolling in from a night out.

People would think it would be the reverse, it would be Kyrgios the one going out," Kyrgios said on Tennis Channel. Reacting to Kyrgios' comments, Kokkinakis wrote on X: "Mans doin me dirty here."

Kokkinakis, Kyrgios didn't defend their Australian Open doubles title

Due to Kyrgios' unfortunate knee injury, he and Kokkinakis weren't able to defend their Australian Open doubles title at Melbourne Park this year.

However, if everything goes right, Kokkinakis and Kyrgios plan on sharing the same side of the net at the Australian Open again in January. Kyrgios is currently working on fully recovering from a wrist injury. “If he’s healthy and we’re both healthy, we’re definitely in.

He obviously had a tough year this year with some injuries. I know he’s hard rehabbing what he’s got going on. I’m hoping we can see him in the summer. If he’s healthy … we’ll definitely play," Kokkinakis told SEN SportsDay this month.
