Danielle Collins reveals the main priority in her retirement will be to "start a family" as the American has hinted that she is hoping to live a simple life once she is done with pro tennis at some point this year.

Collins, who turned 30 in December, shared after her Australian Open second-round loss to Iga Swiatek that she was playing her final season on the Tour. When making the announcement that pretty much came as a surprise and out of nowhere, Collins also said she would decide later this year which tournament would be her last.

This week, 2022 Australian Open finalist Collins competed in the opening WTA 1000 event in Doha. As a qualifier, Collins reached the Doha quarterfinal before Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova handed her a 7-5 6-4 loss.

In Doha, Collins was asked where she sees herself 10 years from now.

Collins: I definitely want to start a family

"I'm not sure. I'm not sure if I'll kind of continue working in tennis," Collins said.

"I think I definitely want to start a family. That's the main priority. And have other interests outside of the tennis court and kind of need to have the time and the space to be able to focus on, you know, what sparks my interest."

Answering the question, Collins also highlighted that a tennis season is very long and demanding, which doesn't leave much for a player to think much about the next chapter. With that being, Collins suggests she will figure some things out once her career officially ends.

"So I kind of need a little bit of time to figure out what that's going to be, but I think what I'm looking forward to the most is kind of stepping away from public eye a little bit and being able to have a, you know, quiet lifestyle and a simple one," Collins said.

After losing to Pavlyuchenkova on Thursday, Collins is set to be again in action on Friday as the former world No. 7 is set to take on Sara Errani in the Dubai qualifying first round.
