The dramatic loss that has struck Aryna Sabalenka is relaunching many messages of affection and condolences on social media. Konstantin Koltsov, former hockey champion and boyfriend of the former number 2 in the WTA ranking, has died in Miami at the age of 42.

The death, according to what has emerged in recent hours and reported by the Belarusian media, occurred suddenly.

"We are in mourning," wrote the Federation, announcing Koltsov's tragic death. During his career Koltsov had also played for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL.

Sloane Stephens wrote these touching words about the passing of her colleague's boyfriend.

"That moment when you can actually feel the pain in your chest of hearing something or seeing something that breaks your heart," she commented.
