Emma Raducanu has shared some promising news on her Instagram as the 21-year-old started practicing on clay after being forced to skip the Miami Open due to an injury.

Raducanu, currently ranked at No. 288 in the world, was scheduled to make her third appearance at the ongoing Miami Open but a lower back injury derailed her plans. Instead, Raducanu returned home to get some treatment, with the hopes of being ready for the clay season.

A week after pulling out of Miami due to a back injury, Raducanu posted a photo taken during a practice session on clay courts. Raducanu being able to start practicing on clay at the start of this week is a clear indication that her back is doing better and that she will very likely be ready to play again when the clay season starts.

Raducanu's clay season starts in Stuttgart

On April 15th, a WTA 500 tournament in Stuttgart is starting and Raducanu is signed up to start her clay season there.

But even before Stuttgart, Raducanu is scheduled to get some clay action as she was named for Great Britain's Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers tie against France between April 12-13. Since France selected clay as the surface for the tie, Raducanu's first action on clay should come there this year.

When it comes to Stuttgart, the 21-year-old is set for her third appearance there.

Raducanu - who is a Porsche global brand ambassador - won her opening two Stuttgart matches in her tournament debut in 2022 before losing 4-6 4-6 to world No. 1 Iga Swiatek. After a solid outing in her Stuttgart debut, the Briton didn't enjoy much success at the tournament last year as her campaign ended in the first round following a brutal 2-6 1-6 loss to Jelena Ostapenko.

For Raducanu, Stuttgart was her last tournament of the 2023 season as shortly after concluding her run there she had surgery on both wrists and her right ankle.

It remains to be seen if Raducanu will be fully healthy at the start of the clay season and how much she can do in Stuttgart.
