The Swedish tennis player Mikael Ymer announced his tennis comeback on his social media channels. Ymer had decided to retire after the 18-month disqualification imposed on him in July 2023 by the Court of Arbitration for Sport for having missed three doping controls.

His retirement from the world of tennis lasted only a few months. "Retirement is boring, see you in 8 months," wrote Ymer in his post, announcing his return to the field just when the CAS sanction ends.

His come back to the court, albeit with completely different dynamics, follows that of Simona Halep a few weeks ago, who was also disqualified for doping but later acquitted.

The CAS decision came after a first acquittal in June 2022 by an independent tribunal.

In August 2023, the Swede announced on social media that he had made the decision to say goodbye to professional tennis.

Younger brother of Elias, also a professional tennis player, and of the young Rafael, Mikael Yimer has reached the best ranking of 50th in the world ranking.

An excellent prospect at youth level, the Swede stood out in his early days by imposing himself on opponents such as Félix Auger-Aliassime, Hubert Hurkacz, Casper Ruud and Denis Shapovalov.

However, the Scandinavian has not lived up to expectations throughout his career, managing to reach only one final at ATP level, losing to Ilya Ivashka in Winston Salem in August 2021.

He won four titles at Challenger level, two Futures and a doubles title with his brother Elias at the ATP 250 in Stockholm.
