Jasmine Paolini was in great spirits after securing her career-best result at the French Open as the Italian tennis star took a hilarious shot at her height when asked about her heart being so big.

Paolini, seeded at No. 12, found herself in trouble early against world No. 70 Elina Aavanesyan but easily resolved the issue with an impressive 4-6 6-0 6-1 win.

For 28-year-old Paolini - who won her first WTA 1000 title in Dubai earlier this year - this is the first time that she has reached a Grand Slam quarterfinal.

While conducting an on-court interview with Paolini, former seven-time Grand Slam champion Mats Wilander told the 28-year-old Italian: “Your heart is so big. I don’t know how it can even fit in your body."

Paolini, who stands at 5 ft 4 in or 1.63 m tall, hilariously responded: "It has to be big because I'm so small!"

Paolini got off to a very slow start to the match and she lost the opening four games. While Paolini managed to break Avanesyan in the sixth and eighth games, it was still not enough for her to create a big comeback since she was also broken for the third time in the fifth game.

But after losing her serve three times in the first set, Paolini responded by breaking Avanesyan three times in the second set while not allowing a single break point on her own serve.

At the start of the third set, Paolini dropped her serve in the opening game but it wasn't a big issue since she went on to win the next six games to complete her big comeback win.

"I was a little bit, let's say, outside of the match. So I tried to do one game, then two, three, to get back into the match. To have a better sensation on my racquet. I think it went well, and the second set I was already in the match," Paolini explained.

In the French Open quarterfinal, Paolini plays against No. 4 seed Elena Rybakina.
