Guillermo Olaso handed five-year ban for match fixing

Fresh from the case of Spanish tennis player Nuria Llagostera Vives' ban, the tennis world was dazed to hear the prohibition of another Spanish player, Guillermo Olaso, who has been castigated for five years from playing tennis, after being found guilty of fixing a match.

According to the BBC, The Tennis Integrity Unit (TIU) said Olaso was found guilty of "contriving or attempting to contrive the outcome or any other aspect of any event." 25-year-old Olaso, who is currently ranked 236th in the world, was also punished for failing to report approaches to give information or influence any aspect of a match, the report added.

"Olaso is not eligible to participate in any tournament or competition organized or sanctioned by the governing bodies of professional tennis," the TIU released a statement.
