Aljaz Bedene plans to switch allegiance to Great Britain [VIDEO]

The BBC has reported this morning that world number 108 Aljaz Bedene plans to switch his allegiance from Slovenia to Great Britain. Bedne has lived in Hertfordshire since 2009 and is based at the Global Tennis Connections Academy in Gosling.

24 year old Bedne has reached a career ranking high of 71 back in February 2013. So far is his career he has won 5 Futures titles, 7 Challenger tournaments and reached the semi finals of the 2013 Chennai Open where he beat Stanislas Wawrinka in the quarterfinals.

So far in 2014 Bedne has a 8-10 win-loss. His best performance so far this season was making the last eight for the second time running in Chennai at the start of the year and reaching the third round of the Miami Masters as a qualifier.

Recently he has been trying to overcome a inflamed left wrist and has been advised not to complete on the tour until the French Open. If Bedne was to successfully switch he would become the British number two. There is yet to be any official comment on this by Bedene.
