Kristina Schmiedlova to meet Jelena Ostapenko in the girls singles final at Wimbledon

Tennis - Eighth seed Kristina Schmiedlova will meet unseeded Latvian Jelena Ostapenko in the final of the girls singles event at Wimbledon on Sunday. Ostapenko needed only 48 minutes to defeat Czech Marketa Vondrousova 6-1, 6-2 while Slovakia’s Schmiedlova needed just under two hours to defeat Romania’s Elena Gabriela Ruse 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Krstina is the younger sister of Anna Schmiedlova, who knocked out Venus Williams at the French Open, while Ostapenko is friends with compatriot Ernests Gulbis and even watched some of his matches at the French Open from the players box. The girls doubles final will be played between Tami Grende/ Qiu Yu Ye and Marie Bouzkova/ Dalma Galfi.
