Wozniacki, Jankovic find top form, reach US Open third round

Tennis - Former World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki played a superb match here at the US Open yesterday, registering a comfortable 6-3,6-4 win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Bulgaria. After a first match that saw her being stretched to three sets before Magdalena Rybarikova, her opponent, threw in the towel at the start of the third set with Wozniacki ahead, leading 2-0.

The Dane, who had reached the final of the US Open in 2009, needed just the hour and 21 minutes to book her place in the final 32 here in New York. In the end, it was Wozniackis consistency which won her the match as she committed just the 15 unforced errors to her opponents 34.

While she was outmuscled from the back of the court and restricted to just the 10 winners compared to 18 that came off the Bulgarians racquet, she always seemed to be in control of the contest. Something that speaks volumes of how one sided this match was is that the most exciting instant came when the Danes hair got stuck in her racquet as she attempted to fire a backhand down the line.

Wozniackis expression was that of a person who felt betrayed by her parents, looking annoyed to the core.
