Yaroslava Shvedova Will Compete in US Open Doubles Final Instead of Getting Married This Weekend

Tennis - Kazakh tennis player Yaroslava Shvedova was supposed to be getting married this week in her hometown. Instead, the 28-year-old will be competing for the US Open Women's Doubles Title in New York on Sunday. Shvedova and Australian partner Casey Dellacqua defeated Anna-Lena Gronefeld and Coco Vandeweghe 6-7, 7-5, 7-5 in the semi-finals on Friday to set up a Championship clash against top seeds Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis. Hingis will be aiming to win her second title this fortnight after clinching the mixed doubles title on Friday with Indian partner Leander Paes. Shvedova will be aiming to win her third Grand Slam title in women's doubles while Dellacqua is hoping to win her first.

Shvedova said she hopes her fiance would still be waiting for her when she gets back home after the tournament. Also Read - Shvedova Wins Comeback Player of the Year Award
