What would be better that this if two-time Grand Slam champion and former world number two, Li Na, is your tour guide but the person enjoying the services is none other than former world number one in singles and current number two in doubles, Martina Hingis.
Wuhan is Li Na’s hometown and Hingis is there to take part in the doubles event of the Wuhan Open. The two friends visited the Yellow Crane Tower and they went to the top to have a bird’s eye view of the city.
Hingis said of the experience, “It’s pretty cool. She is the hometown hero. Li Na said it’s only the second time she has been up here but to come with someone who grew up here made it definitely different, and I learned some history about the Yellow Crane Tower and about Wuhan.” Hingis was asked if she received the same reception in Switzerland after sweeping back to back doubles crown at the Wimbledon and US Open like Li Na used to receive in Wuhan.
The Swiss star replied, “Not quite. I got a welcome at the airport, but I think that China has a bigger celebration. For Li Na to come from Wuhan and make it so big in a global sport has given hope to so many people here”.
