After few rain showers and delays, boys final get underway and lasted almost 3 hours, as 9th seed Miomir Kecmanovic from Serbia beat 3rd seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 2-6 7-6. Out of 210 points in total Miomir won just 2 more (106-104), that being true indicator of how close the match was.
Aggressive and powerful Kecmanovic broke in third game of the first set to win it 6-3, as this new tactics worked perfect for him. Tsitsipas, finalist in 2014 too (lost to Kozlov), came back strong, grabbing second set 6-2 after 2 breaks.
There were no breaks of serve in third set (Greek saved 3 break points in 6th game) so it all went to distance, with one or two points to decide the winner. It was Kecmanovic who had the edge over his older rival, winning it 7-5 in tie break when Stefanos sent a backhand wide.
This was first Grade A final and title for Kecmanovic, as he plans to defend his title in 2016. Here"s what Miomir said after the match: "I found out how to play him and raised my game a little. It turned out pretty good.
I think I was just hitting the ball harder, going for shots, unlike last week [when] I didn"t go for it and just stayed back a little. This year I didn"t do that well, so I"m just happy to win such a big tournament.
It sure ended in a nice way. I still can"t believe it. I"m just going to need some time to process it." Final result : [9]Miomir Kecmanovic (SRB, 1999) vs [3]Stefanos Tsitsipas (GRE, 1998) 6-3 2-6 7-6(5)
