Kasper Schmeichel, goalkeeper of FC Leicester, spoke to The Times about his admiration for the Swiss Tennis player Roger Federer and revealed why he has decided to copy him. He observes very close Roger's position when responding to serve.
'It's similar to a goalkeeper: knees slightly bent, on his toes, balanced, weight forward, being ready for what's coming on his way, and the way they move sideways. Federer is my idol with his light feet and how he moves across the court, his agility.
The court is a similar sort of distance [that a goalkeeper works in] unless you're Neuer, and then that's double the distance' - Schmeichel said. He is not the first goalkeeper to take Federer as an example: 'Tennis fascinates me, not only as sport, but for my sport as well.
I'm a Federer fan. We often hear about each other and I am excited about his mental strength' - said Buffon, adding, 'We should try to have it always. Psychologically tennis is the toughest sport. If you win, it's because of you, but if you lose, you don't have any chance to find excuses or blame someone else' ALSO READ: WTA MIAMI - Third title in Florida for Victoria Azarenka, who dominates Kuznetsova!
