Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis go their Separate Ways!

Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza won't play together at the US Open, after ending their highly successful partnership. The US Open women's doubles entry list sees their names with different partners. The news was reported by the Indian news Agency, PTI on Tuesday though neither player has talked about the separation yet.

The pair, who'd coined the term 'SanTina' had been on a 41-match winning streak that extended from the US Open last year until the quarter-final of the Doha Open this year that they lost to Daria Kasatkina and Elena Vesnina.

Mirza had also become the world no. 1 in doubles while partnering with the Swiss. The duo were also ranked the world no. 1 doubles team right until Montreal, which was their last tournament together.

Hingis will pair up with Coco Vandeweghe while Mirza will play alongside Barbora Strycova, who's good with her backhand and thus can play on the ad side to complement Mirza, who plays on the deuce court.

"Yes, the partnership is over. They have not got the desired results in last five months. You see, they have lost to players outside top-100 and it reflects that something is wrong. But is a regular phenomena, you can change partner if results are not coming," said a source, who's close to the Indian.

Speaking about Mirza's choice of partner, the same source pointed out, "It was question of availability and also Barbora Strycova has a good backhand, so they also compliment game wise."
