Polish tennis player Jerzy Janowicz has split up from his coach Kim Tiilikainen after seven years of collaboration. The 25-year-old and his former coach reportedly parted ways after the Challenger event in Meerbusch -- right before the US Open Tennis Championship.
Janowicz made the quarter-final stage.in Meerbusch, lost his first-round match in New York to Novak Djokovic. Under Tiilikainen's guidance, Janowicz became the 14th-ranked player in the world, in 2013, and was a Wimbledon semi-finalist the same year.
Currently 247th-ranked Janowicz is trying to improve his ranking, and come back to be the player he once was. Injuries have played a big role in Janowicz's big fall on the ATP rankings list. He started this season at the Australian Open, where he was beaten in the opening-round by John Isner, and didn't play since July at the Segovia Challenger.
Now his former coach, Tiilikainen, said he believes that within a year Janowicz could again come back into the top-100.It remains to be seen if once top-ranked Polish player can stay healthy and return to the same top of the men's tennis.
