Almost 35 with injuries hampering her progress, there is no stopping Serena Williams and according to her coach Patrick Mouratoglou, Serena still is looking for the Calendar Slam. What comes as surprise to a lot of people is that Mouratoglou said that he has set a target of 30 Grand Slam Titles for the American.
Williams is tied with Steffi Graf at 22 Grand Slam titles won when she won Wimbledon this year. "I know people are going to be very much focused on the 23rd Grand Slam, I'm more focused on the 30th,” Patrick Mouratoglou said.
“Why not set up a record that will never be beaten in history?" he added. “I think she can do it.” He also said that Serena is not running after the World No.1 ranking as longevity is on her mind rather than the ranking.
"We're not going to run after that because it would be a bad idea," Mouratoglou said. "We decided to let go that No. 1 spot for the moment. Maybe she'll get it back but we shouldn't focus on that and focus on the grand slams," Mouratoglou added.
