Gigi Fernandez Named as Coach of the New York Empire

Hall of Famer Gigi Fernandez will succeed Patrick McEnroe as the coach of the New York Empire franchise in the World Team Tennis league, making her the only female coach in the league among the six teams. Fernandez won 17 Grand Slam doubles titles during her stellar career and also reached the semi-finals of the singles event at Wimbledon, besides winning two Olympic Gold Medals for the United States.

The team has already picked John Isner, Eugenie Bouchard and Mardy Fish in the marquee draft last month and will pick first in the roster draft on March 14. Source - The Washington Post Also Read - Gigi Fernandez Upset at Wimbledon Organizers
