Timea Bacsinszky announced through her official Facebook page that she has withdrawn from New Haven and US Open due to injuries. The Swiss player, who had reached Roland Garros semi-finals in June, suffered several physical problems in the last two months and so won't play the fourth and last Grand Slam event of the season.
'Hello everybody. Unfortunately, I was forced to pull out of New Haven and the US Open. After I had to retire during my third round match in Wimbledon, I decided to take some time to treat not only my thigh, but also my hand that has been bothering me since last year.
My thigh is now much better, but I still need to undertake a few exams for my hand. I cannot express how sad I am to announce such bad news, but my priority, at this moment, is to let my body heal completely and take all the time needed in order to do so.
Of course, I will keep you guys posted.' ALSO READ: Timea Bacsinszky reveals bad news for her fans
