Vera Zvonareva wants to be at a good level again. The Russian player took a wild card to play WTA New Haven qualies this weekend. Zvonareva, a former World No. 2, will make her first appearance at a WTA event for the first time since 2015.

During her time away from the competition, she also earned q third master's degree in Global Studies & Political Science. She is committed to play US Open qualies next week too. In New Haven also Agnieszka Radwanska, Caroline Wozniacki, Elena Vesnina will play, but obviously in the main draw.
