Timea Bacsinszky calls it a season, says she hopes to be back stronger

Timea Bacsinszky called it a season. The Swiss player announced on Instagram that she won't play this year anymore due to a right hand injury that has made her suffer since the end of last year. The Swiss player has not been competing since Wimbledon where she lost to Agnieszka Radwanska in the third round, during that match she suffered a left thigh injury and after that a right hand issue.

'The treatment I have been undertaking for the last months hasn’t been enough to cure the pain in my right hand', Bacsinszky explained. 'After discussing it with my whole team and taking several specialists’ opinions about my situation, I have decided to put to an end my 2017 season.

So, I will go through a small surgical procedure these next few days.” The Swiss player, who reached Roland Garros semifinals in June, added: 'If everything happens according to the plan, I will be back on tour at the beginning of next year.

I will take this period of time as an opportunity to start an early physical preparation in order to be back even stronger.' ALSO READ: Timea Bacsinszky reveals extreme bad news for her fans
