Many tennis personalities commented about Laver Cup tennis event this weekend, and not everyone in the best way. Former French player Marc Gicquel, who achieved a career high singles ranking at No. 38 in 2009, is not so happy about Laver Cup.
'Shapovalov withdraws from Orleans (Challenger), Berdych from Shenzhen and they play Laver Cup. You withdraw from an event only when you can't play!!!', Gicquel tweeted. Stan Wawrinka's coach Magnus Norman, a former World No.
2, wrote: 'Don't forget our great tournaments for points and trophies on the @ATPWorldTour in Metz and St. Petersburg this weekend.' Instead Boris Becker tweeted in a good way about it: 'How exciting is doubles', he wrote referring to Federer and Nadal.
'We need more of it. I have a feeling Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray are watching as well...'
