Mandy Minella, who played Wimbledon four months pregnant, gives birth

It's a pink ribbon for Mandy Minella. The Luxembourgian announced the birth of her first child, a daughter Emma Lina, through her social media channels on Thursday. The former world no. 66 becomes the second tennis player to become a mother this year, after 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams, who gave birth to her daughter Alexis Olympia on 1st September.

'Your first breath took ours away,' the 31-year-old wrote on Tuesday, a day after the birth. Like Williams, who is expected to compete at the 2018 Australian Open, Minella intends to return to competition as well. She played her last match at Wimbledon, four-and-a-half months pregnant, before losing in straight sets to Francesca Schiavone in the first round.

'I have an opportunity to play Grand Slams again, to play big tournaments,' Minella said at Wimbledon. 'I would like to get back in shape, and I would like to finish on my terms as well, so we will see where this will bring me.'
