Tennis - World No. 3 Caroline Wozniacki has hired a new hitting partner - the 28-year-old Thibault Venturino from France. The Dane, who has enjoyed one of her best seasons in 2017 which included winning the season-ending WTA Tour Finals in Singapore, recently split with hitting partner Sascha Bajin after the season ended.
Venturino has been a hitting partner with several other players in the past - including French tennis players Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Richard Gasquet. He is expected to be with Wozniacki during the off-season training block in December and then return during the Miami Open in March. He currently holds a ranking of No. 1569 in the world and has been as high as No. 850 in July 2016.
According to the Danish media outlet Ekstrabladet, Piotr Wozniacki commented, "Venturino has a high level. I have asked Caroline's manager, Julien Cassaigne, to arrange other people around the world in the future. After the New Year, an Australian will join, as we will probably use a local in Qatar and Dubai later this year. It's a method we've used before, and in between Caroline also hits with the other girls on the WTA tour."
