New year, new clothing sponsor for Sloane Stephens. The American player didn't renew her contract with Under Armour that expired after her unbelievable win at the US Open where she defeated fellow compatriot and now Nike ambassador Madison Keys in the final.
Nike managed to "beat" Under Armour itself, Adidas and Uniqlo, according to journalist Daniel Kaplan. After withdrawing from Brisbane International citing the need to have an extra-week recovery to get her knee injury healed, Stephens will start her 2018 season in Sydney that takes place from 7 to 13 January.
The world No. 13 could crack top 10 rankings soon as last year she played her first tournament at Wimbledon, but will definitely have to play better than the final part of 2017 when she lost all the six matches played. Also, Andy Murray is expected to end his four-year deal with Under Armour, which expires at the end of 2018.
