Former ATP top-15 Jan Siemerink becomes Ajax' team manager

Ajax, the Amsterdam-based football club, has a new team manager in former tennis player Jan Siemerink. 'Thanks to my sports background, I know what sportsmen need and ask. In the following years after my tennis career, I was the captain of the Davis Cup team, and I am aware of how the organization of a sports team works,' explained Siemerink, who has always cheered for Ajax.

'I am happy that they have chosen me. After speaking to Edwin van der Sar and Marc Overmars, I felt more than excited of this role. I am looking forward to start and to connect with the first team in the best possible away, in order to fullfill Ajax's ambitions.' Siemerink left the Dutch Davis Cup bench in 2017 after spending almost ten years there due to some problems with the country's tennis federation.

His career is very respectable: he reached a career high of no. 14 in 1998. The same year he achieved his best Grand Slam result (Wimbledon quarter-finals) and won four ATP titles. Siemerink will start his new role from February 22nd.
