Sachia Vickery played a great tournament in Indian Wells last week, winning two matches: against the former world No. 5 Eugenie Bouchard, and the current No. 3 Garbine Muguruza in three sets after a tough battle. Her run ended in the third round against the Japanese Naomi Osaka, who reached the semifinal.
Still, it wasn't enough for Vickery to earn a main draw wild card for the Miami Open that starts on Wednesday next week. Vickery is an American player, is young and is expected to have a bright future ahead, but she was disappointed not to get any invitation, which means starting the event from qualies already on Monday.
'Never one to complain about wildcards as I’ve always had to earn my way, but disappointed in Miami Open denying me a main draw wildcard', the world No. 100 wrote on Twitter.
