Winning after becoming a mum is possible. The recent tennis history has showed it with Kim Clijsters, and now, although at a lower level, the Luxembourg player Mandy Minella has joined the club. Currently ranked 331st but a former world No.
66, Minella came back to compete in February, five months after giving birth to her daughter Emma, and last week she won the $25,000 ITF Italy F06 in Santa Margherita di Pula, Italy (Sardinia) on clay, beating the sixth seeded player and home favorite Deborah Chiesa in a straight set final, 6/3 7/6 ( 3).
On Twitter, Minella, who played until last year's Wimbledon when she was five months pregnant, celebrated her achievement. It was her 13th professional title, the first since the 2016 WTA 125K Bol in Croatia. Minella will now play her second ITF event in a row always in Santa Margherita di Pula next week.
