Ion Tiriac is ready to sell the Mutua Madrid Open. The Romanian billionaire's agents have already met the Madrid Municipality that could well pay the amount asked. 'Why not to do it? If it's a reasonable price, we will buy it,' said Luis Cueto, general coordinator of the Madrid Mayor, as quoted by El Espanol.
Three years ago Tiriac set the tournament price at €250 million. He gets €10 million every year from the city of Madri in order to retain the tournament in the city. Now the city wants to buy the event in order to not pay the steep price to the businessman.
The contract between the two parties expires in 2021. Tiriac recently threatened that he could shift the tournament to Berlin or Munich. ALSO READ: Rafael Nadal explains why he has not become a father yet
