An unexpected and secret wedding took place between Karolina Pliskova and her fiancèe and agent Michal Hrdlicka. In Monte Carlo, where they live, on Thursday they got married, in front of 20 invitees. They had got engaged after last year's Wimbledon when Karolina became the new world No.
1 in the WTA Rankings. Hrdlicka worked as TV presenter in the Czech Republic, then in 2016, he was fired as he was seen trying to urinate on the road, seemingly drunk. He also dated a girl when Karolina was playing Wimbledon, but afterwards, he apologised and they are back as a couple.
After dating each other for around three years, the wedding took place. Pliskova will now enjoy a few more relaxing weeks, then will start practising again in order to get ready for the Rogers Cup in Toronto that starts on outdoor hard-courts on August 6.
Pliskova lost to the Dutch Kiki Bertens in the Wimbledon fourth round, which was her best result in the tournament. This year Pliskova achieved her best result at the Stuttgart Open, the first big clay-court event of the year, beating the American Coco Vandeweghe to win the title.
She also reached the quarter-finals at the Australian Open (lost to Simona Halep), Dubai, Indian Wells, Miami, Eastbourne. The current world No. 9 reached semifinals in Brisbane and Madrid. Here below a video of Karolina and Michal celebrating the happy event.
