Tennis - Newly crowned US Open champion Naomi Osaka has signed a new endorsement clothing deal with Adidas that will pay her $8.5 million per year, according to The Times of London. The deal is expected to be announced on Thursday and is likely to be the richest deal in women's tennis.

Osaka's victory will also lead to bonuses being triggered in her existing deals - Yonex, Citizen and Nissin Foods Group are among her sponsors. Osaka is born in Japan but lives in the United States, which makes her appeal to audiences in the East and the West.

Osaka already currently has a deal with Adidas that has been on for four years and is valued in the low six figures annually. Osaka earned $3.8 million for the win over Williams in a controversial final. She rose to No. 7 in the world rankings this week after her win and is also expected to sign a deal with Nissan following her win.

Osaka is 20 years old and also won the Indian Wells event in March this year, making her one of the top draws in the women's game. She used her powerful serve and groundstrokes to outhit Williams in the final on Saturday. Also Read - Roger Federer Says He Has Not Skied for the Past Ten Years
