Tennis - World No. 2 Simona Halep, from Romania, will reunite with her coach Darren Cahill in Romania when the two will attend the Sports Festival in June. Halep will be playing two exhibition matches against Italian Flavia Pennetta in the event and she will also play a mixed doubles match with Marius Copil as her partner and the duo will take on Pennetta and her husband Fabio Fognini in that event.
According to Tennis Tonic, Cahill will be giving a talk about tennis at the event which should be immensely helpful given his background in coaching. Cahill has worked with several tennis players including Lleyton Hewitt, Andre Agassi and Halep.
He was also part of the Adidas Player Development Program and worked with several high-profile players, including Andy Murray, Ana Ivanovic, Fernando Verdasco, Daniela Hantuchová and Sorana Cîrstea. Halep and Cahill worked together from 2015 to 2018 and at the end of last season, Cahill said he wanted to take a break from the tour to spend time with his family.
Since splitting with Cahill, Halep worked with Thierry Van Cleemput for a few weeks between the Australian Open and Doha and is now working with Daniel Dobre since the Miami event.
